Engine oil is used as a coolant, typically to remove surplus heat from an internal combustion engine. The heated engine oil due to friction, transfers heat to the engine oil. This hot oil passes through a heat exchanger known as an oil cooler.
In a typical oil cooler oil passes through Stainless still plate & plates are surrounded by either water or coolant effectively the heat gets transferred to the coolant.
As per new engine emission norms & stringent emissions regulations Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler (EGR) has become a critical component in both diesel and gasoline engine systems. The Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler (EGR) is designed to cool high temperature exhaust gas.
EGR coolers help reduce emissions and improve fuel economy for on-highway and off-highway commercial, heavy duty diesel engine applications.
